Hearing Aids with iPhone

At a time when human connection has never been more important, making communication as easy as possible for people with hearing loss is key. In 2013, ReSound introduced the first Made for iPhone hearing aids that offered streaming directly from iPhone and iPad.

iPhone compatible Hearing Aids

Great news: iPhone and iPad users can now use ReSound ONE™ hearing aids as a hands-free headset to talk to family and friends.

*ReSound ONE hands-free calls are compatible with iPhone 11 or newer, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation), iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation), iPad Air (4th generation), and iPad mini (6th generation) with iOS 15.4 or newer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find out more about how to use ReSound ONE hearing aids with iPhone and iPad.

Yes. Your hearing aids need to be Bluetooth® wireless technology enabled to connect with any other Bluetooth device – in this case your iPhone. You can then quickly and easily pair your devices in the iPhone Settings app.

With ReSound ONE hearing aids you can stream audio directly to and from an iPhone or iPad and hear your favourite voices and great sound in both ears. Simply answer calls by tapping a button on your hearing aids.

ReSound ONE hearing aids provide a great hearing experience for iPhone and iPad users. With your ReSound ONE hearing aids, you can stream all day long with confidence, knowing you are connected to the world around you in the most intuitive and natural way – something ReSound champions with our Organic Hearing philosophy.

Apple’s recent iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 software update with added support for bi-directional hearing devices makes hands-free calling possible.

Made for iPhone hearing aids need to be officially certified to meet Apple performance standards. All ReSound ONE hearing aid models are authorised Made for iPhone accessories.

ReSound ONE hands-free calls are compatible with iPhone 11 or newer, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation), iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation), iPad Air (4th generation), and iPad mini (6th generation) with iOS 15.4 or newer.

At ReSound, our Organic Hearing philosophy is inspired by the natural ways we listen and how we connect with people. Wireless capabilities are a key factor as to why people get hearing aids and significantly increase satisfaction for those who wear them. The Made for iPhone (MFi) functionality provides several benefits:

  • Hands-free calls for easy multitasking.  Cook a meal, bring in the shopping, type on your laptop whilst taking a call, stay in touch with friends or loved ones whatever you’re doing. The microphones of the hearing aids pick up your voice when taking calls or using FaceTime so you don’t have to speak into the microphone of the iPhone.
  • Stream all day with confidence. Special streaming protocol based on Bluetooth® Low Energy makes it possible to stream high-quality audio from iPhone and iPad with less battery consumption than is required for classic Bluetooth streaming. This is critical for hearing aids, as batteries need to last much longer to allow for all-day use and more. ReSound ONE offers the longest battery life in the industry for well over a day’s worth of worry-free use. You can benefit from up to 30 hours of battery life before a recharge with the smart power bank charger.
  • Easily answer calls. Simply tap a button on the ReSound ONE hearing aids.
  • Reliable audio streaming. Enjoy convenient conversations with outstanding sound quality without ever having to take the iPhone out of your pocket.
  • Improved privacy. Many hearing aid users use the speakerphone function (speaker icon) of their smartphone to improve speech comprehension during a phone call. Direct streaming from your iPhone or iPad with ReSound ONE significantly improves speech comprehension. So there is no need to use the speakerphone option and whoever you’re talking to has more privacy, too.

Sivu testimonial

Singer-songwriter Sivu lives with hearing loss. He’s tried his ReSound ONE hearing aids with the hands-free technology.

“Like everyone else I use my iPhone a lot to keep in touch with family and friends that I can’t see in person. With this new technology, it makes it a lot easier to call people without having to stop what I’m doing and hold my phone to talk. I don’t have to put everything down, which has proved useful in a recording studio environment. I can use my iPhone exactly the same way as I did before my hearing deteriorated which is extremely important to me.”
